Former Romanian MP accused of money laundering
Gabriel B., a former MP for the social democrats (PDSR), stands accused of theft, fraud and money laundering, the local media reported, August 5.
“Gabriel B., former MP from the Social Democracy Party of Romania (PDSR) representing Ialomita county, was recently arrested by prosecutors in Constanta, Romania, after being accused of stealing oil products, tax evasion and money laundering,” online news portal Romania-Insider reported.
It is expected that the suspect will be detained.
Gabriel B. previously served part of a five-year sentence after he was found guilty of fraud and tax evasion, activities which reportedly cost Romanian subsidiary of Societe Generale, BRD, some RON 50 mln.
