Counterfeited Chinese condoms worth USD 60,000 busted by Polish customs officers
Customs officers in Gdynia busted a container full of 1.5 mln counterfeited condoms worth USD 60,000 illegally imported from China, Polish media reported at the end of June.
“The allegations were confirmed by an intellectual property rights consultant from the Customs Office in Gdynia,” spokesman of the Gdynia Customs Office, Marcin Daczko, told newspapers. “According to the papers, the preservatives were supposed to be delivered to a company from Mazowsze [center of Poland – Ed. Note]. The condoms were worth almost USD 60,000, according to customs officers’ estimates.”
The condoms were packed in 500 boxes, which filled one of the containers unloaded at Gdynia harbor. They featured a counterfeited trademark registered at a Czech company.
Counterfeited condoms imported from China have already been seized numerous times, Daczko explained. But so far they were sent through the traditional post, and in much smaller amounts.
