Russian secret service apprehends alleged CIA spy
Russia’s secret service, the FSB, arrested a U.S diplomat accused of being an American spy, the Russian media reported.
“Bearing the hallmarks of a Cold War spy thriller, Russia’s counterintelligence agency says it caught a CIA officer trying to flip a Russian operative,” Russian news portal RT reported, May 14.
The FSB announced that Ryan Christopher F, an employee of the American embassy in Moscow, offered a large sum of money to a Russian agent for sending intelligence to the U.S. Christopher F was found in possession of an incriminating letter and various gimmicks to hide his identity.
The scandal comes at a difficult time for Russia and the U.S as they prepare to head an international conference on Syria.
