Referendums should be held in each region of Ukraine – Yanukovych
Ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych urged Ukrainians to hold referendums in each region of the country during his appeal to the Ukrainian nation, the Russian business daily Kommersant wrote, March 28.
“As a president, who is with you heart and soul, I urge each sane Ukrainian citizen not to let himself to be used by the impostors. Require referendums on determining the status of each region of Ukraine,” Yanukovych requested.
The ousted president described the early elections to be held on May 25 in Ukraine as illegal, and promised to do everything possible to expose and punish all those “responsible for the state’s collapse,” according to the Russian media.
On March 3, Yanukovych told the media that he still considers himself as the Ukrainian President and called those, who captured the power in Kiev, “fascist thugs.”
