Naftogaz Ukraine chief suspected of corruption – MIA
The police reportedly detained the head of Naftogaz Ukraine, Yevgeniy B., as part of investigations into corruption schemes in the gas industry, the Ukrainian news agency TSN reported, March 21, citing The Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov.
“Regarding the investigation of corruption schemes in the gas industry, MIA officers detained the head of Naftogaz Ukraine, Yevgeniy B.. Based only on three investigated episodes of the corruption group’s activity, the amount of damage to the state was estimated at about USD 4 bln. And this is not the full list of shady schemes and operations, which were detected by our investigators,” Avakov wrote on his Facebook page.
On March 23, the court determined to either keep the suspect detained or release him if he agrees to pay UAH 1.5 bln bail (EUR 99.2 mln), TSN wrote citing the Ukrainian MIA officer.
