Bribery most common in Slovakian, Polish health sectors – EC report
An EU Anti-Corruption Report, published at the start of Feb., found that the health sectors in Hungary, Poland and Slovakia were most likely to be plagued by bribery.
“In some countries a relatively high number of people indicated that they had personal experience with bribery, but with a clear concentration on a limited number of sectors, including Hungary (13%), Slovakia (14%) and Poland (15%),” the report reads. “In these countries, one sector, namely healthcare, provides the bulk of instances of bribery.”
Some 82 percent of respondents saw corruption as a widespread problem in Poland, while 90 percent viewed this as widespread in Slovakia.
The report was compiled to give a clearer picture of corrupt practices within the European Union.
