Radoslav P.’s presidential campaign to be investigated by Slovak police
Slovak police are looking into suspicious possible financing abuse during Radoslav P.’s presidential campaign, the Slovak newswire, Slovak Spectator, reported Sept. 3.
“The Slovak General Prosecutor, Jaromir Ciznar, has questioned both, Radoslav P. and Igor Matovic, a Slovak politician and Ordinary People (OL) faction member, who first informed the public about the alleged financing abuse during Radoslav P.’s presidential campaign,” the newswire reported.
“After questioning, Ciznar handed a file pertaining to the case to the police. No one in the case has been accused yet.”
Slovak Police Corps Presidium Spokesperson Michal Slivka said that the file submitted to the police by Ciznar pertained to alleged tax evasion and insurance irregularities.
In early June 2014, Igro Matovic publicly announced that Radoslav P. attempted to purchase ‘off the books’ advertising for his failed presidential campaign from Matovi’c company regionPRESS Ltd.
On an anonymously published online recording in mid-July 2014, Radoslav P.’s voice is featured saying “half-a-million euros” in response to Matovic’s question regarding how much Prochazka has spent on his presidential campaign. At the same time, however, Prochazka publicly stated that his campaign spending totaled EUR 250,000.
The recording contains parts of conversation between Prochazka and Matovic, which Radoslav P. has since insisted was heavily edited by Matovic.
