Serbia invites bidders for privatization of 502 companies

Serbian government plans privatization of 502 public information and communication enterprises.

Serbian government plans privatization of 502 public information and communication enterprises.

Following the adoption of the new law on the sale of the state-owned assets, which came into force on Aug. 13, Serbia is planning the privatization of 502 state-owned companies, the Serbian newswire, Tanjug, reported Aug. 13.

“Serbian Privatization Agency on Aug. 15 will provide on its website a public invitation announcement for letters of intent to purchase of 502 government companies and their subsidiaries,” the local media reported. “A notice about the invitation will also be sent out through the international and national media.”

The Serbian Privatization Agency’s announcement will include list of public information and communication enterprises, which are to be privatized in accordance with the new public information regulations.

The agency will not issue any invitations to companies from the defense industry, amongst others, as the law on the privatization of state-owned assets currently exempts them from the privatization process.
