Polish Ministry of Treasury lists 22 strategic companies
The Polish Ministry of Treasury has designated 22 companies as having strategic meaning to the Polish economy, the Governmental Informational Center, stated.
“Those companies built value for shareholders, they have an important role in developing strong national economy and are co-creating economic security of the country”, Ministry of Treasury stated in the press release.
The list was published as a part of the document: “Priorities in managing the portfolio of entities supervised by the Minister of Treasury until 2015”.
According to the document, “The priority of the Ministry of Treasury will be, first the professionalization of supervision and development of the value in the entities important to the economic security of the country, and secondly – a decrease in involvement of the state in the areas in which its presence is indispensable”.
The 22 companies are: Industrial Development Agency, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Azoty Group, Lotos Group, KGHM, PGE, Polska Wytwornia Papierow Wartosciowych, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, Orlen, PGNiG, Polskie Inwestycje Rozwojowe, Polish Radio, PKO BP, PZU, Przedsiebiorstwo Eksploatacji Rurociagow Naftowych Przyjazn, Przedsiebiorstwo Przeladunku Paliw Plynnych “Naftoport”, Tauron, Telewizja Polska, Totalizator Sportowy, Szczecin and Swinoujscie Harbour, Gdansk Harbour and Gdynia Harbour.
The 22 above-mentioned companies cannot be privatized. Additionally, the ministry listed 190 companies it supervises that may see a change of the ownership, including: PLL LOT, Eurolot, Enea, Energa, Polski Holding Nieruchomosci and Krajowa Spolka Cukrowa.
Polish chemistry giant Grupa Azoty is on the list, which does ends recent speculation about a possible hostile take over by Russian Actron.
“Azoty Group is a strategic company because the scale of its activity, its impact on the Polish economy and its significance for the Polish labor market (…) Documents prepared by preceding governments mentioned privatization of the Polish chemistry industry. We put a dam on that”, Minister of Treasury, Wlodzimierz Karpinski stated.
