Thousands of Ukrainian tax officers dismissed over misconduct
Ukraine’s Ministry of Revenue and Duties has dismissed more than two thousand of tax and customs officers from their positions since January 2014, the Ukrainian information agency Unian wrote, June 24.
“Almost all of the Ministry of Revenue officials from main departments, as well as heads of customs and more than 20 chiefs of the central apparatus of the Ministry, have been dismissed,” Unian wrote citing the ministry’s press-service. “88 criminal cases were opened based on facts of the crimes committed by officials.”
The estimated value of losses incurred by the state is UAH 146 million, the media wrote.
“Special attention is being paid to money laundering,” according to the ministry’s press-service.
