No-EU countries support sanctions against Russia
Montenegro, Albania and Moldova are among non-EU countries that joined with sanctions imposed on Russian over the annexation of Crimea and the crisis in Eastern Ukraine, the international media reported in March and April 2014.
”The European Union has taken note of these decisions and welcomes them,” said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton.
The three countries actively supported the sanctions in accordance with the terms set out in the Stabilization and Association Agreements that the countries signed with the EU. The agreements formulate an existing legal framework that regulates the relations between the three countries applying for the status of a EU Member State and the EU.
The sanctions include a travel ban and the freezing of accounts to a number of Russian and Crimean officials.
