Serbian and United Arab Emirates companies sign preliminary agreements
Serbian companies signed their first preliminary agreements with firms from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Serbian Trade Minister Rasim Ljajic stated following a May 19 meeting, as reported by Serbian newswire Tanjug May 20.
“We discussed not only the construction of shopping centers and hotels in Belgrade, but also the construction of hotels in Serbian mountain resorts,” said Ljajic, as cited by Tanjug.
The trade minister added that the Monday meeting with officials of 20 companies from the UAE, of which some have already opened branches in Serbia, was also used to discuss Serbian export of agricultural commodities to the Arab market and potential cooperation in the construction and IT industries. Ljajic stated cooperation on the real estate sector and pharmaceuticals sector was also a possibility, especially so since the UAE delegation included officials from an unnamed pharmaceutical company interested in acquiring firms operating on the Serbian pharmaceutical market.
